Return to home page          SCYM Web Site Content Policy

The SCYM Publications Committee establishes the policy for maintaining the Web site and the types of material to be made available.  The policy is reviewed by Representative Meeting and, if there are any questions, by Yearly Meeting.

  1. The primary reason for maintaining the SCYM Web site is to foster communication within SCYM.
  2. A secondary reason for maintaining the SCYM Web site is to foster communication with Friends outside of SCYM and with persons, wherever they may be, who are interested in SCYM.
  3. The Publications Committee wishes to protect the privacy of individuals and meetings within SCYM while promoting easy contact where it is warranted.  Therefore, we maintain a password-protected section of the Web site, called Members Only! for distributing information which might be sensitive.
  4. The Publications Committee tries to keep meetings and officers of the yearly meeting aware of ways in which they can use the Web, but it is not able to actively solicit material from meetings or individuals.
  5. The various operating systems and ages of computers used by Friends will always be a factor in how much we are able to use new technologies for the benefit of everyone.  For instance, there are ways we might be able to offer some services to persons who use Microsoft operating systems, but not yet to Apple users.  We are still learning how to adapt what we do to meet various needs and hope to grow quickly in this regard.  We are also limited in making use of the services available to us at a reasonable price from our service provider, who while most generous in treatment of us does have to make a living.

Submission of material

  1. Anyone within SCYM can submit material for the Web, but the Publications Committee has final discrimination about what will be used and when.
  2. Meetings are encouraged to share special event dates with us throughSCYM Inquiries for the SCYM calendar.
  3. Anything we are asked to incorporate that does not have an automatic cut-off date (as an event does), must include a "take down" date so we do not have a site full of obsolete information.
  4. The Publications Committee will do its best to work with you to create a presentation that is suitable for your submission, but requires electronic submission of basic information.
